Editor’s Note
Some of the memories that children cherish relate to the stories they were told at bed time by their parents. However, it appears that in this jet-age, this practice is becoming extinct. No doubt, most parents want to inculcate strong values in their children, but because of their professional and social commitments, they fail to use this very powerful tool.
On the basis of my long experience and observation, I have reached the conclusion that children are far more receptive to good stories than to dry and boring moral instructions by teachers and parents.
The reason for the effectiveness of this method perhaps lies in the elements of wonder, surprise, suspense and excitement inherent in all good stories. Being interesting and absorbing, they succeed in catching and holding the attention of young listeners / readers, leaving a lasting impact on their impressionable minds.
Therefore, we have added four pages of stories selected from the great literature of the world, including Panchtantra, Aesop’s Fables and Jataka Tales. I am sure that young readers will not only find them interesting, but also uplifting and ennobling.
